This week sets the scene for the rest of the series. All the lies explored in the series are a form of “enthusiasm,” trying to find God apart from his Word. The great danger in that is that anything and everything apart from the Word of God is shaky, unsolid ground. There can be no solidity, no surety, no security of our eternal salvation by standing on anything but the Word of God.
